Samsung can’t wait to ship the Galaxy S8 to your door, and you might get the phone earlier than supposed to. If you’re lucky.
A new report from The Investor says that Samsung is looking to ship Galaxy S8 preorders a few days ahead of the planned in-store launch. The move, for the time being, is considered for Samsung’s home market.
Earlier reports indicated that Samsung is going for massive Galaxy S8 launch events in the country, as it’s looking to neutralize the LG G6 threat. LG’s first 2017 flagship handsets launched in Korea a few days ago, becoming quite popular with the crowds.
Samsung has recently decided to unveil subsidy plans for customers earlier than usual, The Investor notes. It’s unclear what these plans will be, but they’ll be unveiled during the preorder period – that’s April 7th to April 17th.
Samsung will then ship preorders starting on April 18th, ahead of the planned launch date, which is reportedly scheduled for April 21st or April 28th.
The company will also offer buyers in Korea a nationwide hands-on event for the phone, after it becomes official on March 29th. It’s unclear at this time whether Samsung will adopt similar measures in other regions of the world.
T-Mobile independently engaged in early shipping campaigns in previous years for both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S7, but those did not appear to be a Samsung-coordinated event. Rather, T-Mobile tried to differentiate its service from competitors. Source: BGR
